چکیده

Acknowledgments: The authors would like to express their gratitude to Virginia Morman, Nurse Manager of Western Nephrology Acute Dialysis, for her support of the project and to the Acute Team staff who participated in the data collection for this project. Also, thanks are extended to to Karen Chaney and Doug Reid (formerly of Gambro Healthcare) for their interest and support. W hen setting the prescribed blood pump speed on a hemodialysis machine, the actual blood flow rate delivered is often less than what is prescribed. It has been difficult to accurately assess the actual blood flow rate that is achieved until recent improvements in technology that allow the dialysis machine to calculate this value internally. The actual or “compensated” blood flow rate displayed is a calculated blood flow rate. It reflects the actual rate at which blood is flowing through the cartridge blood tubing set. This calculated value takes into account the blood pump speed and the negative arterial pressure within the system (Gambro Lundia AB, 2004).With the purchase of Gambro Phoenix dialysis ma-

Quantification of microcirculatory parameters by joint analysis of flow‐compensated and non‐flow‐compensated intravoxel incoherent motion (IVIM) data

The aim of this study was to improve the accuracy and precision of perfusion fraction and blood velocity dispersion estimates in intravoxel incoherent motion (IVIM) imaging, using joint analysis of flow-compensated and non-flow-compensated motion-encoded MRI data. A double diffusion encoding sequence capable of switching between flow-compensated and non-flow-compensated encoding modes was imple...

Characterization of the diffusion coefficient of blood

PURPOSE To characterize the diffusion coefficient of human blood for accurate results in intravoxel incoherent motion imaging. METHODS Diffusion-weighted MRI of blood samples from 10 healthy volunteers was acquired with a single-shot echo-planar-imaging sequence at body temperature. Effects of gradient profile (monopolar or flow-compensated), diffusion time (40-100 ms), and echo time (60-200 ...

Effects of Mobile Phone Radiation on Surface Tension and Volume Flow Rate of Human Blood groups

Introduction: The great use of electrical appliances in different life applications is one of the most obvious concerns because of its possible health drawbacks. These investigation reports results of electromagnetic field effect emitted from mobile phones on some biophysical parameters of human blood belonging to blood groups A, B, AB & O collected from the normal persons. The parameters obser...

Effect of blood flow restriction on metabolic rate and fat oxidation during and after high-intensity intermittent exercise in active male students

Background and Aims: Given the role of blood flow restriction in causing more hemodynamic stress, the aim of the present study was to investigate the effect of blood flow restriction on the metabolic rate and substrate oxidation during and after high-intensity intermittent exercise (HIIE) in male active students. Method: For this purpose, 10 male active students, selected and in a cross-over de...

Effect of six non-Newtonian viscosity models on hemodynamic parameters of pulsatile blood flow in stenosed artery

A numerical study of hemodynamic parameters of pulsatile blood flow is presented in a stenotic artery with A numerical study of hemodynamic parameters of pulsatile blood flow is presented in a stenotic artery with non-Newtonian models using ADINA. Blood flow was considered laminar, and the arterial wall was considered rigid. Studied stenosis severities were 30, 50, and 70% of the cross-section...
